TSU Fall 2024: ENGL 3309 Professional Writing

Course Description:

This course is located within the Department of English and Languages. The purpose of this class is to help students prepare for the type of writing they will do in the workplace, and their professional lives. The emphasis on practical application is achieved through problem-based scenarios that allow students the opportunities to work through complex communication problems in the safe environment of the classroom. The course of this purpose is to facilitate student learning through the following objectives:

  • Investigate rhetorical principles of discourse and technical written communication
  • Analyze rhetorical situational purposes, audiences, and these design choices
  • Promote critical thinking and exploration of ethical documents and the work they do
    The ultimate goal is to provide students with the communication tools needed to have greater impact and influence in the workplace.
